How to replace the electrodes

First of all, the fusion splicer machine must be in the shutdown state, remove the protective cover of the electrode chamber, loosen the screw of the upper electrode, take out the upper electrode; Then loosen the jackscrew of the lower electrode and remove the lower electrode.

Second, install the new electrode. The operation steps are opposite to the method of removing the electrode. The gap between the cusp of two electrode is required to be 2.6±0.2mm.

Finally, the cusp of the electrode should not be touched during the assembly process to prevent damage to the electrode and to avoid the electrode falling into the machine and causing damage. After electrode replacement, the arc position should be calibrated.

Electrode cleaning and discharge correction

After the electrodes are installed, turn on the power switch of the fusion splicer machine.

Press the menu key to enter the first-level menu after the fusion splicer machine enters the initial screen.

Find the machine maintenance by moving the cursor, select clean (aging) electrode item, the machine will discharge for clean aging electrode automatically after confirmation.

Install the cut left/right optical fiber and find the discharge calibration by moving the cursor. The machine will performs discharge test and displays “OK” or “ Success” when the test is completed.
